Quotes from the back page of 'The West Australian' newspaper:

'Fremantle captain Matthew Pavlich rates prized draft pick Anthony Morabito a superior athlete to himself at the same age, declaring the Peel teenager "ready to go" if selected to make his debut early in 2010' :-D

A worrying note on Palmer.... :(

'Harvey said young midfielder Rhys Palmer was unlikely to play in the pre-season or round one of the home-and-away season to give him close to a 12 month rehabilitation from his knee reconstruction.'
"You would be reluctant (to play him in round one)," Harvey said.
"...........We might have to hold him back. He had a great first year and played five games in his second. We would probably have to ease him back I would say"

Not good news....

Still think Morabito is SC inclined, but this news makes me nervous with regard to DT. :(

I think the Palmer news is more significant, we all know that Morabito is going to get game time.

Palmer has me a little concerned now, Morabito is not in my side at present, but that means very little really, if he impresses over preseason I will need to find reasons not to pick him.

Looks like Palmer is out of my side..

Despite being a Freo tragic, I still don't think I will pick up Morabito. In the TAC cup he only averaged something like 14 possessions (Scully averaging 26). Scully is practically the same price. And anyways, I think some of the cheaper mids are better options..

I think Freo picked him up because of his pace and build (that X-factor in the mid). Not necessarily DT material IMO.

Just for the record Morabito did not play TAC Cup last year and never has, played a couple of games in the WAFL seniors.

Sorry mate mixed up my competitions! I feel like an idiot..

I meant he only averaged 14 disposals in WAFL seniors (thanks for that). Forgot to mention also that for the WA U18's he averaged 17 disposals a game.

So yeah atm he's not in my calculations (Supercoach maybe - gets the contested ball). I'd like to be proven wrong though!

Some of these kids become more prolific ball winners once they play AFL seniors. For many, it will be the first time they are not a key player in the team and they make the most of the freedom.

Just to clarify the Palmer situation (there seems to be some mis-information floating around on DTF):
Quote:
Rhys Palmer (knee) will be held back during the NAB Cup and could also miss round one of the season proper

afl.com.au

Also it has been said that he played in the Fremantle intra-club match, this is not the case as it has not yet occured:

Quote:
Fremantle’s fans are invited to come down to Subiaco Oval for the club’s first hit-out of 2010 on Saturday 13 February.

Nice post JK.

Very big question marks over palmer now. He'd have to be named round 1 to even make it into calculations for Pablo's Low Blows.

morabito is one of the rookies most likely to play 18-22 games this season. worth it as a bench 'cash cow' if nothing else. i'll keep an eye on palmer when he returns but don't think he'll be more than a small blip on the radar.
